This project is based on research into sexual issues in Flanders (and worldwide). Although sex is a basic human need, the stigma surrounding this topic is very present in our society, making it a difficult subject to openly discuss and potentially exacerbating sexual problems. If you search for sex furniture online, you'll see that most of them are explicitly, vulgarly, and unfriendly designed and advertised towards women.

The way similar products are presented, aimed at men, prevents many women (and some men) from buying such products. The fact that sex furniture is often difficult to hide from visitors/children deters people. It makes sex furniture only accessible to the ‘happy few’.
